Since its establishment in 2004, Sydney based Out There Media has become a premier full-service print production and management company. Specializing in the design, production, and installation of large format digital printing, the company’s footprint can be seen across a diverse range of venues and industries. From sporting venues and stadiums to hospitals, national shopping centers, retailers, commercial vehicle fleets, and cultural events, Out There Media’s high-quality work is widely recognized and respected.
Revolutionizing Print Production with UVgel Printing
Out There Media has embraced innovative technologies to enhance its production capabilities, particularly through the use of UVgel printing. This advancement has markedly transformed the company’s efficiency and output.
Out There Media’s BDM and Director, Grant Dimitriadis explains: “In the past, we used four large-format printers from a competitor. However, over the past three years, we’ve achieved double the output with just two Colorado printers. This increased productivity has allowed us to maintain our staff levels and reduce our operational footprint by two-thirds. Remarkably, we now rarely print past 4pm, a significant improvement from before when our old printers often required extensive overnight printing.”
Commitment to Sustainability with Solar Energy
Out There Media is dedicated to sustainable practices, prominently through the utilization of solar energy to power its operations. This green initiative has significantly reduced operational costs and improved efficiency. A battery system ensures efficiency during less sunny periods. “We aim to promote our solar use more since some clients require green credentials. We also have electric cars which we charge with our solar system.”
Even with the Colorado’s both printing together, the printers use very little power and our solar cells power our factory fully even in winter, states Grant. This commitment to sustainability not only underscores Out There Media’s environmental responsibility but also appeals to eco-conscious clients seeking green credentials.
Fleet signage
“We are specialized in fleet signage” states Grant, “and in 2022 a car and truck rental franchise transitioned to new branding for 160 branches. For this campaign, we printed the predominately orange branding directly to the media. Orange is traditionally a tricky color for digital printers, but not for the Colorado’s. We choose to print it and we don’t need to cut and apply the black and white logo elements, this is only possible with the colour accuracy of the Colorado.”
“This turned out to be advantageous for us. Printing on white film significantly increased our installation speed—four times faster compared to using color film.”
Unmatched Color Accuracy for Brand Consistency
This precision is crucial for brands, where maintaining a consistent color is vital for brand recognition.
“The new Colorado printers have proven exceptional for vehicle graphics. Printing at 40 square meters per hour, they offer great color accuracy. Maintaining color consistency across large fleets is a significant challenge. Keeping the color accurate comparing truck number #10 with truck number #150 is obviously a challenge, and we wouldn’t have been able to achieve that with our old printers, but we are able to now with our current Colorado’s. The very first drop we printed to the very last drop we printed is absolutely spot on accurate.” “We’ve altogether printed up to 300 trucks, maintaining perfect color consistency from start to finish.”
Steven Badger, Head of Sales & Professional Services at Canon Production Printing Australia, “We enjoy partnering with sustainably focussed businesses such as Out There Media. The productive Colorado UVgel solution gives Out There Media the ability to print in Sydney and have installers around Australia wrap fleets of cars, vans and trucks. Fleet graphics is one growth area for Colorado UVgel and gives Out There Media the ability to maintain consistent branding across a wide geographic area. This collaboration not only enhances the quality of their print output, but also ensures faster turnaround times and exceptional customer satisfaction.”
